If there is anything that is assured in life, it is that everything will come to an end. Matters of the “end” are so assured that there is nothing in this world that is exempted from it. All things will come to an end in their own time. In their own time simply because only the time between the emergence of something and its end differs from one to the other, as some tend to last longer than the other but the bottom line remains that no matter how long it seems to last, it will come to an end. Surprisingly, matters of the “end” is not limited to living things only as even non-living things still have an end. Just as animals, plants, insects, etc. emerge through a process and end eventually, furniture, cars, houses and even money and its possession also have an end. Not only does the material used for making the money expire, is gathered and destroyed, possession of money itself also comes to an end at some point. Even the most powerful anti-God creation known as Satan will also have an end, despite its longevity and seeming eternal living – Rev. 20:7-9. Indeed, all things will surely come to an end.

Human beings however seem to go through their time in this world without being conscious of this very certain occurrence. The consciousness that whatever they may be, rich or poor, righteous and unrighteous, etc. will never be a permanent status as it will change and that change may actually lead to the non-association of that achievement for which they were applauded, with them. That is when such achievement will be deemed as having come to an end.

Sometimes, the end may be bitter and may sometimes be sweet but what should always be of concern to man is not the end but what happens after the end. This consciousness becomes possible however, only if man is aware, ab initio, that whatever the issue, position, acquisition, etc. may be, it will come to an end at some point. The end is defined as the final part of an activity or an event. Whether the activity leaves positive or negative memories, it sure will end. Even death that is being touted as the most certain event in the life of man is just one of the “ends” that will happen to everything, living or not living. Human beings die, companies die, achievements die, all things die but like everything that comes to an end, that stage actually marks the beginning of another phase of existence. The one who has money may at the end of a phase of life have more money or become poor, the one who has position in the society at the end may be elevated to a higher position or may be demoted or worse still be without any position, the one who is enjoying accolades and all the attention for an achievement today will definitely experience isolation and neglect when the assured end comes. It will either be the case that a greater achievement occurs that continues to engage the attention of the praise singers in which the success will be sustained or the praise singers simply get tired of praising for the same achievement which no longer gets them excited like it did when it emerged initially.

With all these certainties around the “end”, that will come to all things, the wise person will take stock of every thing that seems like an achievement and prepare for events after the end of all those things whether they are positives or not. In here lies the challenge of men. Man simply forgets this basic fact of life that all things will come to an end and so does not prepare for the events that will follow the “end”. The result is either failure for someone who was deemed successful before or perpetuation of failure for the one who seemed to be on the failure path. The one who seems to have been on the success path for many years did not remain there because of a single achievement but because such a person consciously or unconsciously keeps doing new things such that the end of the phases is not distinct and the impression is created that it is the same initial activity that is still being celebrated. Nothing can be farther from the truth. There is indeed a time for everything under the heaven as the only thing that is eternal is the Word of God – Matt. 24:35. The best way for the one that seems to be on the path of failure now, to follow is to have the consciousness that that phase of life will come to an end and so should prepare for the phase after the end of the current phase, whilst still in the current phase, else the next phase will be marked by failure also with such believing that it is the same failure that is continuing. It is definitely not, but a simple case of non-preparedness for the next phase during the current phase, whether positive or otherwise.

The phase after the end may be sweet or bitter as it depends, not on the event of the current phase, but the anticipation, planning and preparation made for how one intends for the event that will follow the end to be. One that is in a current phase of enjoyment will wish that it never ends but that remains an illusion as that phase of relative enjoyment will definitely come to an end. Such will fair better if whilst in the current phase of enjoyment, plans are made for the enjoyment to extend into the phase after the end of the current phase. The one who does this is said to be investing toward a more successful future. However, the one that is experiencing a not too good phase in life will also benefit from the awareness that that will also come to an end at some point. Such will therefore be wise to prepare for the phase after the current one which will surely come. The effectiveness of that preparation is what will determine the direction in which the fortune of such will change, in the phase after the end. Such is said to be preparing for a successful future.

As much as all the above applies to the end of earthly achievements, no one should forget that being alive is also an achievement of some sorts. Being able to breathe and grow will both also come to an “end”. The will definitely be an “end” when breathing will no longer be possible and growth which may have been retarding over a period of time will eventually come to a halt. That is when the end of life comes and that is what is called death, but like all other ends, there is definitely a phase after that end and the success or failure of that phase will depend on what preparation or plan is made during this phase of life whether it is deemed successful or not. Because many people lose consciousness of the definite end of whatever experience they may be having in this realm, they fail to prepare for the phase after the end, and also live the life like it will never come to an end. Despite the daily event of people, young and old, departing this realm, they simply do not live in a manner that indicates that they are preparing or planning for the phase after the end of this phase of life.

Like several other things, life will not just end like that as it will definitely transit into another phase and it is important for the wise person to think also about that phase from this phase, else that phase will come unprepared for, and the only result of unpreparedness is failure. Prepare for the phase that will come after the assured end of all things, more especially the end of your time in this realm. It is important to note that whether you are happy with the state of things in this current situation or not, there is little that can be done about it but there is a lot that can be done about the next phase to ensure that it is either not as negative as the current one, or the joy and success of the current state is at least sustained if not improved upon. When it comes to life and its end in this realm, that next phase will be either an improvement called Heaven or a failure called Hell. Do all that needs to be done to make the phase after the end in this realm better than the current phase. That is when you can consider yourself as a progressive soul. May God help us to plan and prepare well for the phase after the end in all situations in Jesus name. Amen.
