The Almighty God had intended to address the entire people of Israel who had just left Egypt, courtesy of His stretched right hand that delivered them from the oppression of Pharaoh in order to let them know first hand, the guiding principles for His worship but they did not find it convenient to directly listen to Him talk. When they saw the thunder and lightning and heard the trumpet and saw the mountain in heavy smoke, they unanimously chose to have Moses speak to them rather than the Almighty God – Exo. 20:18-19. It agreement with the request, He called Moses up Mount Sinai and chronicled for Him his laws and ordinances. Ranging from the avoidance of idols and their worship to the need for an Altar to be constructed for His worship, the Almighty God carefully reeled out standards that must be attained by all who desire to worship Him and the Israelites in particular – Exo. 20:22-26. Laws with regards to how to treat servants who are Hebrews to His views on arbitration of situations that involved personal injuries were spelt out in Exodus, chapter twenty one whilst instructions on how to protect personal properties and social responsibility of the Israelites were listed in Chapter twenty-two of this book of Exodus. Chapter twenty-three focused on the instructions of the Almighty God with regards to general laws and the administration of justice and mercy with clear warnings on the need for the Israelites to show caution whilst walking with Him.
Having clarified all these standards to Moses, the Almighty God again called him up, bit this time in the company of the Priests, that is Aaron, Nadab and Abihu and seventy elders of Israel although they were to remain at a distance whilst only Moses was permitted to approach the Him – Exo. 24:1-2. It was at this meeting that He gave specific instructions concerning the construction of every item that was going to be related to the construction of the Tabernacle. Specific instructions on the construction of the Ark, Table, Lampstand, the Tabernacle itself, Altar of Burnt offering, the Courtyard, Oil for Lampstand, Priestly garments, the Ephod, the Breastplate, the mode of consecration of the Priests, the construction of the Altar of incense, Atonement Money, Basin for washing, Anointing Oil and Incense were given to Moses in the presence of the Priests and Elders by the Lord – Exo. 24:1- 30:38. It is obvious that the Lord does it desire to be worshipped in just any manner. It had to be in a manner prescribed by Him.
There is a specific manner in which He was being worshipped in heaven and He wanted that to be replicated on earth if the worship of the people was going to be acceptable to Him and the people equally rewarded. Not only was He particular about the materials required for His worship, He was also specific about the personalities that will be associated with their administration including those that will be used to design all those materials. It was not going to be just anyone. In order to make artistic designs for work in gold, silver and bronze and to cut and set stones, to work on wood and to engage in all kinds of craftsmanship, the Almighty God had people whom He had personally chosen for that purpose. This is not to say that there are not others in Israel who possess similar skills but they were not the one chosen by Him. With clear instructions to Moses in the scripture that is the foundation of today’s Devotional, He made it crystal clear that He had chosen Bezalel the son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah with Oholiab, son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan as his assistant – Exo. 31:1, 6. It had to be this two people and no other. He not only chose them, but like everyone that he chooses for a divine task, He also empowered them. According to today’s foundation scripture, He filled only the Boss with;
- His Holy Spirit.
- Skill, ability and Knowledge for the task ahead.
What an organised God that desires to be worshipped in an organised manner and not in a manner subject to the discretion of men.
Whoever desires to play specific roles in the worship of God should know clearly that it is not just about desire and zeal but about His approval for such an individual to play such role. He is so detailed in the need for His standards to be met that fine details like the design of the garment to be worn and who will show it become very important to Him. The one that will serve in His tabernacle will even need to seek out a fashion designer that is the choice of the Lord and not just any one that he desires. Although not expressly stated, there will definitely be repercussion if such details are not adhered to. It is not just about the act of ministering in His Tabernacle but also the adherence to the processes that lead to that ministering act.
This is because
- The people He had appointed for those tasks are usually enabled to operate in His Spirit. Wow! So the spirit in operation in the person has an impact on whatever the person must be doing. The garment to be worn will be affected by the spirit of the one that sewed it and by inference will have effect on the one that will wear it. Seems insignificant right? But it is significant to the Almighty God sufficiently for Him to be specific on who should see such garments and identify them by the presence of His Spirit in such people. Do not take these issues for granted as the challenge you may have been having may just have to do with your fashion designer, or the fashion store where it was displayed for sale. The foundation of your life challenge could just be the apartment you are living in, not necessarily because the owner of the building is spiritually negative but because of negative spiritual activities that happened around the apartment in the course of its construction. Yes! They appear to be very insignificant but it is the insignificant things that bring down the powerful person because of the tendency for such things to be under-rated. Take care of all those minute details and do not just concentrate on the result. The staff may be very skilled but the spirit with which he/she is working with is equally important. Assure yourself that it is an acceptable spirit that will enhance success.
- It was only after the Lord mentioned the inhabitation of Bezalel with the Holy Spirit that he referred to the skill, ability and Knowledge which He also had input into Him. The Christian who is desirous of success should also follow this template of conforming the presence of not just skill, but ability and Knowledge in prospective co-workers. Whereas skill is the ability to do something well, ability as mentioned in the scripture will mean the physical capacity to dispense the skill. The one who is skilled but lazy or has negative habits will be a wrong choice when recruiting co-workers as he/she will end up being a negative influence on the expected result. Of equal importance is the need for such a person to have the knowledge on how to dispense such skill. This will involve the when, how and where of the possessed skill. The lord put these in all the people He chooses for His tasks to ensure that the task is successful. You will need to have them put in you by Him for you to qualify to minister on any of His tasks just as you will need to input that in anyone that you intend to work with you on your tasks if you desire success.
- Of note is the decision of the Almighty God to also choose an assistant for Bezalel. It was not going to be a choice to be made by Bezalel. The lord gave not only Bezalel but all the other craftsmen skill but did not include the filling of His Spirit, ability and Knowledge. That other three was reserved only for Bezalel. The Almighty God is not the author of confusion and will never enable a subordinate to the level of the Boss. The authority is with the Boss whose fitness for the role is the operating spirit, the ability and the knowledge aside from the skill that is common to every other person. That is why the boss is the Leader. The Call of God for that individual is what makes him/her the Leader. Everyone may have the skill but the X-Factor is the Spirit, ability and Knowledge which in some situations may be called wisdom. That you are able to do what the leader is doing may not be sufficient proof that you have the approval of God to lead that role. The leader in such situations is His representative and such is specially enabled with the X-Factor which is more than the mere possession of skill. You also need that X-Factor in your day-to-day activity to enhance your chances of success. The failure recorded in that ministry or in that private venture many just be because of your lack of these leadership extras or the absence of these leadership extras in the people appointed into such positions.
Do the needful today by using the template of the Almighty God for appointments and you will find yourself on the express road to success and greatness. May that be your testimony very soon in Jesus name. Amen.
