Although the biblical book of Psalms is generally referred to as the Songs of David, it is no longer a secret that not all the chapters in that book can be credited to him as several people have been linked as authors to several chapters of the book. One of those chapters is the ninety-first chapter of the book of psalms which has been linked to Moses. Bible scholars recorded that he wrote this chapter in the desert on the day he completed the building of the Tabernacle.

He had been called up to Mount Sinai by the Lord and shown several things in heaven one of which was the design of the Tabernacle with firm instructions to duplicate all that he saw there, in the tabernacle he was instructed to build on earth (Exo. 25:40) and this he complied with completely (Exo. 25 -31; 35-40).

For someone who had just witnessed first hand the heavenly Tabernacle, it is not surprising that such a comment about the tabernacle will be linked to him. According to him in the first verse of that scripture, anyone who dwells in the secret place of the most High, will abide under the shadow of the Almighty.

From the available historical background, there is no shadow of doubt that Moses was referring to the heavenly Tabernacle, a replica of which he had just built as instructed, neither was he praying but was providing information based on what he saw and was convinced about, and which is that whoever is seated in this place, which he has come to identify as the secret place of the most high, will abide under the shadow of the Almighty.

A secret is something not known or seen or meant to be known or seen by others so when Moses refers to a place as the secret place of the Most High, he must have noticed how dear the Lord held the heavenly Tabernacle and known possible reasons why He held it that high. It was therefore a very huge Grace that the Almighty granted to the Israelites of then and humanity in general to reveal such a dear part of him to Moses. A secret will usually have great value for the one who keeps it and it is only revealed to those who are equally valued. God not only revealed this secret to Moses but also encouraged him to share it with his fellow Israelites in particular and humanity general. But for this need to view the heavenly Tabernacle, there will probably have been no need to invite Moses up the Mountain as he could have communicated all the other instructions to him without taking him up to the mountain. The earthly Tabernacle was probably constructed to serve as a reminder of heavenly standards and the need for all to be positioned to meet with that standard whilst on earth. It had been constructed according to heavenly standard and it will be expected that all those who are to associate with it will follow the instructions carefully so that if they qualify to enter the earthly Tabernacle, then they would have also qualified automatically to inhabit the heavenly Tabernacle even whilst on earth.

What a great revelation and grace that the Almighty God released for man but there is a massive doubt as to whether men appreciate this grace or are even accessing it. Many Christian groups today have jettisoned that same remembrance structure that is supposed to keep the Christian alert to the standard of God. While some have claimed that it belongs in the past making one wonder whether heavenly things can ever be in the past, some have, may be rightfully, decided to transfer the replica Tabernacle into their heart. That may not be an issue, for as long as such groups can achieve the goal of the Almighty God for establishing earthly Tabernacle, which is to create a standard that will guide His worshippers so they can have equal access to the heavenly Tabernacle and so enjoy the various advantages that is associated with such a great secret.

Some Christian groups however do have the earthly Tabernacle in their place of worship but one wonders whether the significance of such a structure in their midst is known to them. For some members of these groups, all they see is a raised and decorated area of the space earmarked for worship, but lost is the immense significance of the Tabernacle as a constant reminder of the required standard that needs to be met by worshippers of the Almighty God, in order to access the goodies associated with His worship.

Aside from all the spiritual laws given to Moses to guide all who intend to worship this great God and thus reside in His secret place, King David lists several conditions that must be met by anyone who intends to access this secret place of the Most High – Psa. 15:1-5;  24:3-6.

Moses confirms that success achieved in having a seat in the secret place of the Most High will make one abide under the shadow of the Almighty God. To abide under the shadow of anything is an indication of the closeness that such has with that reference object. For anyone to successfully abide under the shadow of the Almighty God is a strong indication of the closeness of such to the Him. Moses implies that whoever is qualified to be that comfortable in the heavenly Tabernacle of the Most High, as represented by the earthly Tabernacle that all must use as the standard, is already very close to the Almighty God and should then be well positioned to enjoy the massive advantages associated with such positioning.

These advantages will be guiding our next series of devotions but the Christian today needs to confirm whether he or she qualifies for a seat in the secret place of the Most High, which is the heavenly Tabernacle. You may move near the Altar in the earthly Tabernacle but that may not imply that you are close to that heavenly Altar which probably explains why your constant association with earthly Tabernacle has not had any positive effect on your life. You need to apply the instructions associated with the earthly Tabernacle to your life as it is only then that you would have met the conditions for accessing the real secret place of the Most High, which is the heavenly Tabernacle. Observe all his laws with regards to associating with the Tabernacle as given to Moses and all the guiding principles as laid out by King David and other bible scriptures and you can be assured of accessing the goodies associated with worshipping Him. May God grant us the Grace to have a seat in his secret place in Jesus name. Amen.
