Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.” – Lk. 6:38 NIV

The coming into the world of a new creature, whether plant or animal, human or non-human remains a major lesson in life. All come into the world with nothing and are expecting to achieve success in the world. It can be comparable to one who goes to farm expecting to plant, nurture and harvest and goes with no farming tool or implement. Not even the right dress. Anyone will conclude without doubt that such is not been serious, with regards to expectating success.
This can also be concluded about man because we all come into the world with absolutely nothing. Even clothing is absent as we all arrive completely naked. However, in the course of life and over time, some differences begin to emerge that provide opportunity, like the case of the farmer, to have a portion of land to farm on, have seedlings, have clothing, have farming implements, and other necessary requirements that produce success. This is because, somewhere along the path of life, some people begin to give to that person. These givers may be parents, family members, neighbours, friends, well wishers and God-sent destiny helpers. All these people at some point play their own role of giving and the individual begins to acquire implements and requirements necessary for living comfortably in this realm.
Of all these givers, none of them is able to give all that one needs as they only give a little which should serve as a seed to getting the big acquisition. Even when plenty is given, a fraction must be set aside to be given as seed, else that may just be the last experience of receiving for such an individual. The parents or guardians gave the initial feeding, clothing and care necessary for that time but will not give in the quantity required for life. Education is provided but is not all that is required to secure a good job or comfortable position in an employment. Generally, all that everyone gets is a little of what one needs to make success in life. The result will be dependent on what one gives from what was received, how it is given and for what purpose it was given. That probably explains why two people have the same life opportunities but turn out differently in the course of time in life.
Jesus Christ, in the process of addressing the issue of human beings taking up judgement of others and letting them know the danger of being involved in such acts, had gone further to make the statement which, although was made in relation to that advice of not judging, definitely applies to every aspect of life.
Simply put, the act of judgement, like all other acts of man is an act of giving. Every act of man is either giving to someone or to nature. Breathing for example gives Carbon Dioxide to nature and collects Oxygen from nature. Same applies to every deprivation act of man as there will be consequent deprivation of something of advantage to man. One who exhibits hatred should never expect to be loved. Nature as created by the Almighty God is dependent very much on the give and receive equation. This balance has nothing to do with your being a Christian or not, as it applies to all living creatures, but of course, as a Christian, the scriptures can be a proper guide to avoid becoming a victim of this law of nature.
Everyone who has received, and this applies to every living creature, has a duty to give, if he or she plans to receive more. The interesting part of this law of nature is the simple fact that what is given is usually a fraction of what is received, as what is subsequently received is always bigger than what was given.
The failure or success of anyone in life is very much dependent on what he/she is giving. Every other creature tends to find obedience to this law easy to work with except man. Ranging from thoughts to physical acts, man continually give things that they do not want, without realising that the only way to avoid not receiving those negatives of life is not to give them and vice-versa. What are you giving?
You will always continue to lack if you do not keep reminding yourself that all you possess today was given to you by people who could have decided otherwise, and so you must give also. That you grew in that family does not explain your been educated as your parents could have decided against giving you education and you will not have been able to stop them from doing such. It is what you give that will be given to you in the measure Christ described; good measure, pressed down, shaking together and running over.
Although you came to the world empty handed, there were people who were willing to give, to support your building a good foundation for success in life. These gifts are like seeds and they must be given back else their will be no harvest. If you consider what you are given as your harvest and keep all to yourself, then you can know that your success in life will be pegged to what you received, but if you see it as a seed , you will not hesitate to give it, in the right way and for the right purpose. That remains your only route to success in life. Everything you desire in life is available to you as a seed. That you are able to get it in the manner sufficient for life, will depend on what you do with the seed. May God give you the spirit of giving rightly and timely in Jesus name. Amen
