Salvation is the act of being preserved or delivered from harm, ruin or loss. It means that the person was facing these situations and until the saving step came up, there would have been no way the individual would have escaped being consumed by them. Christianity goes a step further to define salvation as deliverance from the consequences of sin a situation that can only be facilitated by having faith in Christ.

God in creating man put man in comfort (Gen. 1:26-30) and actually made him a little lower than the heavenly beings (Ps. 8:5 NIV) but still made the angels ministering spirits to serve those who will inherit salvation – Heb. 1:14. It means that in the hierarchy of life, man occupied a position of authority with angels appointed to serve him. Placed inside the garden of Eden at creation and in this privileged position man was very comfortable and had even the angels ministering to him, a position that bible scholars informed was not acceptable to Lucifer and he rebelled – Is. 14:12-14. In this location, man had everything and was assured of remaining comfortable eternally until the great error of Adam and Eve – Gen. 3:4-6. This act of transgressing the instruction of God dropped man completely from the hierarchy and exposed man to suffering, difficulties, sickness and death – Gen. 3: 14-19.

Even though this was brought on man by man himself, God was not happy to see man in this state and had to find a way of restoring man to his initial position at creation (Zech. 9:9) but as far as Lucifer was concerned, this was not going to happen (Rev. 12:1-6) and so he decided to continue to deceive man so as to win more souls to itself – Jn. 8:44. The implication is that such souls will be with Lucifer in his eternal destination which is Hell – Matt. 25:41. The picture of Hell as depicted in the scriptures is that of a place of eternal torment and pain – Matt. 22:13. That contrasts completely with what God was offering in heaven – Matt. 13:43; 25:34.

With the state of man after the fall, nothing can stop man from this destination and that applies to all that have refused to accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour. This is because in the attempt of God to restore man, he actually got his blameless son to offer himself as a sacrifice for all sins committed before, during and after the coming of Christ to the world – Is. 53:2-5. This sacrifice was done when the same sinless person was nailed to the cross, died, buried and resurrected. That was a sacrifice done once for the remission of sins to save men from the destination that Lucifer is preparing for them.

However, not everyone can be saved from this location. Only those who know him, hear him, believe him, accept him and get baptised him can be saved from this location that is being prepared for the Lucifer and his followers – Jn. 3:16; Acts 2:38.

Simon Peter says that to be saved from this destination people need to indicate their acceptance of Jesus Christ by renouncing their past spiritual lives and activities, confess all the atrocities that they may have committed before meeting and knowing Christ, openly accept and confess him as their Lord. Then they will be saved from this impending doom that will befall all those who remain in their sin till death.

This is the truth because the scripture informs us that there is no other acceptable sacrifice for sin aside from that made by Christ (Heb. 10:26) so it is important for Christians to always ensure that they do not believe in any other but Jesus Christ. It has nothing to do with your denomination or who your father is (Matt. 3:8-9) but a personal decision that all must take on individual basis – Rom. 10:9. You need to realise that being born in the church or being a leader in the church is not a proof of your status when it comes to believing and accepting Christ as your Lord and saviour neither is the time you have been going to church significant. The amount of spiritual gifts you manifest also does not matter as all that matters is your acceptance of Him as your Lord and saviour.

To accept him as your Lord is to do the following:
1. Believe that he came in flesh – Jn. 1:14; 1Jn. 4:3.
2. Believe that he died and he rose – 1Thess. 4:14.
3. Believe that he ascended into heaven – Acts 1: 9-12.
4. Believe that he is coming again to judge the world – Acts 1:11.
Accepting him in this manner is all that you need to access the salvation he offers and living with the principles listed above keeps you in this saved position until his return.

I pray that you will learn to know him, accept him and remain in him until his return in Jesus name. Amen.
