“No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord , and their righteousness is of me, saith the Lord.” – Isaiah 54:17 KJV
Christians are quick to quote the above scripture whenever they sense any form of danger or any act that does not seem to go down well with them and is suspected to be coming from someone not considered as a friend. The quote is delivered in a manner that gives the impression that the pronouncement is what will stop the negative act rather an informational scripture that should educate others in order to bring them to a spiritual state.
The scripture informs of a spiritual state of a Christian that makes the negative activities targeted at such individuals ineffective. It informs whoever cares to listen that such acts from supposed enemies will not be effective no matter how skilled those deploying such weapons are.
This spiritual state as described in this scripture is not attained because such individuals possess their own weapon that can counter that of the supposed enemy but because they are servants of the Lord. These individuals do not win the battle because they are facing the enemy in battle but because they face the Almighty God in submission. They do not win their battle because they can quote that scripture but because they are in that state of being the Lord’s servant.
Christians need to realise that the way they can win their battles is not to target the supposed enemy. In the first place, you are not even sure if the personality you have come to see as the enemy is indeed the real enemy. Secondly you only know the weapons that you have and not that of the enemy as you will never be able to fully assess the capability of the supposed enemy. There is always the chance of under-rating such capacity which in most cases will have severe and sometimes fatal consequences.
Spiritual warfare will only be won by the Christian if he focuses on his/ her relationship with God rather than focus on the distraction called enemy. The scripture says victory in such wars is only for SERVANTS of the Lord.
To be a servant of someone is to be responsible and be ready to defer to such a person at all times. Only instructions from that person is obeyed. A servant believes that all that his master does is right for him as he does not have any other plan outside what the master has designed. He is obedient to the master completely as that is where all his loyalty lies. He equally trusts his master to have His back at all times and the ability of the master to handle all his challenges is not in doubt as far as he is concerned.
The master being the Almighty God repays such loyalty by ensuring that He defends such a servant in the same way he will defend his own child. The servant begins to have an inheritance reserved for children not because he/she is a biological child but because of his/her loyalty to the Lord.
No matter how much guilt is found in a child, before a father who appreciates the loyalty of his child, the child is always innocent. The father does not care to listen to either parties in deciding who is wrong or right, he swings into the defence of his servant because he immediately confers on him/her the status of the right person.
That is why your loyalty to the Master (in this case the Almighty God) is what confers on you the status of a righteous person. For you to be able to lay claim to, and enjoy the advantages of being a righteous person, you are advised to remain a loyal servant and your righteous status will ensure that no weapon fashioned against you, seen or unseen can prosper.
May God give us the spirit of servitude and loyalty that is required for a servant to enjoy the reward of the righteous which is an inheritance reserved for children by Grace. Amen.
