The Saving Hand

Behold, the Lord’s hand is not shortened, that it cannot save;” – Isaiah 59:1 KJV
The above scripture brings to fore a major ability of the Almighty God. It pictures God with hands that have limitless capability to save in any situation no matter how bad it may be.

The above scripture brings to fore a major ability of the Almighty God. It pictures God with hands that have limitless capability to save in any situation no matter how bad it may be.

A graphic illustration will be that of an individual in a very deep pit. Even when the person is stretching out arms in attempts to get out of this pit, the depth of the pit will limit such efforts to the length of the arm of the person. Successful escape from this pit will depend more on the length of the support hand being offered which should at the minimum be able to reach the person irrespective of how deep the pit may be. The reference scripture informs us that irrespective of the depth, the hand of the Lord has ability to reach out and save such a person unlike man’s hand that is limited.

Put in a wider perspective, it means that no matter how bad a situation is the Almighty God has ability to reach out and save. The question then will be; why do Christians find themselves in seemingly irredeemable challenges even after several spiritual exercises that were aimed at resolving them.

The response is also as clear as the question but will be another question which is; “whose hand is such a Christian asking to intervene in his or her situation”?

Most Christians start their christian life being told and rightfully so too to pray to God through Christ but were never properly introduced to both of them but they still expect that those prayers will be answered. They heard both names but never met them. They were at best introduced to their Pastor, Shepherd, Prophet or the Spiritual Head of their denomination and so their faith was limited to the ability that could be associated with such leaders.

All their belief systems were anchored on such personalities and the walls of their belief comes crumbling down once the limitations and imperfections of these personalities become glaring, an event that will always happen since these are mere human beings and they remain very fallible.

Sometimes it is either these personalities lay claim to divine abilities or the followers attribute to them limitless capabilities but over time all these claims fall through as the human limit is reached no matter how long it takes.

For those who are dependent on the saving hand of such personalities, they experience the joy of answered prayers only to the extent that the hand of the personality they know and acknowledge can go. Meanwhile such personalities hardly want to change the perspective of such followers as they are obtaining great benefit from such ignorant followers as they at best see the divinity they are yet to be introduced to in these personalities or worse still see such personalities as the divinity they need to worship. It is only a question of time before they get the disappointment that will come with such ignorance and faith is lost – Ps. 20:7; Lk. 18:27.

God’s ability to save is limitless so if there is a situation that is defying prayers and seems like it cannot be salvaged, it should immediately call for a re-assessment of the hand that is in operation in such situations. It is either that the Almighty God is not willing to grant such request as it is outside his Will at that moment or the hand of the Lord is not involved.

If it is the former, then why try to force God’s hands as you know the result will always be failure and frustration but most times it is the latter. This is because the hand of the Lord is the involvement of God and He will not allow wastage of efforts and frustration of unanswered prayers of His people. He is very capable of bringing to reality whatever He has promised and He never fails in any thing He lays His hand upon just as His hands will never be in any situation that is not His Will.

Anyone who has been properly introduced to him will know that and so can never be frustrated in the place of prayer but one who does not know Him will eventually be frustrated at the place of prayer.
However if you have not been properly introduced to Him and yet to experience frustration at the place of prayer, you can take proactive steps today because no matter how long it takes, the limit of the hand of your spiritual leader and or mentor will be reached and failure at the place of prayer will result after that and if you are currently experiencing frustration at the place of prayer, the way out is definitely to bring His hand into the situation.
In order to do this and prevent any such frustration or stop further frustration at the place of prayer,

  1. Spend more time, not just reading but meditating on the His Word in the scriptures. It remains the spiritual sword to fight your battle and achieving victory – Eph. 6:17; Heb. 4:12.
  2. Plead with him to bestow his Holy Spirit on you as he is the teacher that will lead one on the right path at the place of prayer – Jn. 14:16-30.
  3. Plead with him to reveal Himself to you like he has done for others in the scriptures and they were able to improve their relationship with him and thus experienced the saving strength of his hand in their lives – Ex. 33:18-20; 1Kg. 19:11-13.
There is no doubt that a better relationship with him will arise from diligently following the above points and then you can benefit fully from His limitless capability to save.

May God make his saving hand available to us in all our situations in Jesus name. Amen.
