“…and this is the sixth month with her, who was called barren. – Luke 1:36 KJV
There is no doubt about the effect of a name on the destiny of the bearer. This is one of the identities of life that starts and ends with man. People identify particular persons by their names and it so significant to note that the Almighty God when changing destinies also change name – Gen. 17:5; 15-16; Gen. 32:28.
Over time during life, people change this some people’s name without the owner of the name knowing and even where he/she is aware, does not really bother as the significance of such a change is not known to the person.
That the name of a person is the identity of the person cannot be over-emphasised. It has to be mentioned any where the individual’s presence is required for any purpose. This places includes scheduled and unscheduled meetings where the individual’s fate is to be determined. At these kind of meetings and in some cases, people do not necessarily see the person from the name that he/she presented but the unofficial name they have concluded should be the right name.
These unofficial names given by these people arise from their assessment of the person over time based on their relationship and conclusions of who the person is. Some of these names are based on formed impression (which most times are wrong) whilst some are the result of one-off but negative activities around the person. These names never appear on official documents but they play significant role in achieving destinies.
When such positive names such as brilliant, hard-working, honest, well-behaved, etc. are used, the bearer of this unofficial name is lucky as it paves way at such breakthrough times. However, in most cases because of the nature of man, these names are negative. Either because of personal sentiments against the individual or some one-off events, people form opinion which they become reluctant to change.
Names like stubborn, rude, uncultured and sometimes as bad as liar, thief, untrustworthy, etc. become the unofficial name. Sometimes the people become so bold that they now address the person directly and if the person does not reject it instantly he/she gradually begins to believe and even live it. An example is when a confident person begins to doubt his/her ability because over time people have used names like “habitual failure” or “never-do-well” to describe him/her and it is beginning to look like they are right to the person concerned. – Gen. 18:12; 1Sam. 2:5.
Elizabeth in the scripture today was already living that kind of life. Like Sarah and Hannah before her she had already accepted her fate as a barren woman whereas she was not destined to be barren. With God’s intervention, she saw who God created her to be and not what the world made her to believe about herself.
Most Christians who have also given up on those childhood aspirations mostly because of the conclusions of people about them need to plead with God to restore their altered destiny. This is because these negative names always show up at critical points off breakthrough such as final assessment of an individual for an uplifting and opinion of supposedly close people are being sought.
That may just be the reason for all that “almost got it” situations that are causing delays in your life. Beyond the fact that you need to resist such conclusions about you and that you are aware of before it stops you, there is the need to pray to God to grant you victory over these “point of success” antagonists and destiny changers. This is because most of these actions are done without your knowledge and mostly by people who claim they know you, after all, that was why their opinion was sought in the first place. Since you may never know what was written in that confidential file that was recommending you for uplifting or said at that meeting held to move you closer to destiny, you are better off looking up to the all knowing God to intervene and change your story especially in situations that you are not opportune to speak or defend that new and negative name that you have been given.
That is your best way of stopping them before they stop you. May God restore all that negative name you are being called has taken from you in Jesus name and remain your defender at your point of breakthrough in Jesus name. Amen.
